AUTHOR BIO: Evelyn Mattern (author) was a well-known peace activist. writer, teacher, and world traveler. The acclaimed author of "Why not Become Fire?" and "Blessed are You: The Beatitudes and our Survival" (Ave Maria Press), Mattern was once described as "a gentle burr in the side of the rich and powerful, and a comfort and confidante to the powerless." Although Mattern passed away in late 2003 after a battle with cancer, her writings reflect her passionate, unwavering belief in a world where justice, peace, and environmental advocacy are the norm rather than the exception.
