On hearing of a competition by a English newspaper, a young Canadian man is transfixed. The competition is for the best explanation of why the sparrows have disappeared from London. Is this a real contest? Is this shocking news true? The man had not signed up for a world without sparrows. Who doesn't love the sight and sound of these spirited, tough, and beautiful little birds? To think they have disappeared from one of the world's great cities is more than he can bear. He leaves his small Canadian city for the expedition of his life: he will go to London and risk everything to solve the mystery.
Blake Brooker is founder and artistic director of One Yellow Rabbit Performance theatre in Calgary, Canada. He has written many plays which have been performed in North America and Europe.
Judd Palmer is a founding member of the Old Trout Puppet Workshop, and the slide banjo player in the Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, a stomp & holler old-timey band.
