This novel also goes back thirty years to explore the reason Young Bart retreated to Ellesmere Island, how Hermit the Laughing Man is connected to Driftwood’s grandfather and why Hans Blekansit became bald at nineteen. Throughout it all, Driftwood learns a great deal more about her family, herself and the challenges of the world.

Driftwood’s Crusade is the second of five novels that chronicle the epic story of a young girl who uses her unique skills to try to solve world problems like the extinction of animals, the dangers of video games, our logged forests and war.  Driftwood’s quests will take her around the world and throughout the universe.  Hers is a tale that is personal, mystical, timeless and yet bluntly relevant to the issues of today.

JAMES DAVIDGE, Author, lives in Calgary, Alberta and is the writer of The Wandering Stars, a comic about seven mystical mathematicians.   As a teacher at the Willow Park School for Arts-Centred Learning, a Calgary Board of Education alternative program, James facilitates classes for students to learn traditional knowledge in fun, thoughtful and creative ways.

JUDD PALMER, Illustrator, is a puppeteer in the Old Trout Puppet Workshop and the creator of the Governor General’s Literary Award nominated Preposterous Fables for Unusual Children series of books, also published by Bayeux Arts.
