Understanding Brain Disease Dr. Joseph B. Martin
Understanding Brain Disease is as much for the specialist as it is for the lay person interested in finding out where we are today in the scientific attempts to understand and control such conditions as stroke, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and BSE. It is a lasting tribute to Margarete Wuensche, herself a stroke victim, that the lecture series in her memory at the University of Calgary, Canada, will help build bridges between medical practitioners and researchers and the general public. Dr. Joseph Martin, MD, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Harvard University, is the author or co-author of more than 300 scientific articles and reviews, and is one of the editors of Harrison’s Principes of Internal Medicine, a widely used medical textbook. He has also served on the editorial boards of the New England Journal of Medicine, Annals of Neurology, and Science.
